What is Playful Learning?

+

The Playful Learning Platform

The Playful Learning platform aims to ignite the use of quality games for learning in the classroom. As part of this growing movement, we’re creating an online portal where you can discover games and key information on how to use them. The platform presents both educational and commercial games with easily navigable searches and filters.

Sort by cost, genre, platform and much more to quickly find games that match your technological limitations or curriculum standards. A wealth of information accompanies each game, including reviews from teachers and students, lesson plans, and assessment tools. Everyone is encouraged to add new games and material to Playful Learning and grow the shared knowledge of the community.

The Playful Learning Initiative

The Playful Learning initiative is connecting teachers around the country to build a thriving community of people who use games for learning. In addition to the Playful Learning platform — a key element in the game-based learning movement — we're also producing national and regional events for teachers, students, designers, and researchers to come together. We'll play games, produce educational tools, and learn from one another.

It all starts with three conferences in Summer 2013: Games+Learning+Society (GLS) 9.0, 10th Anniversary Games For Change Festival (G4C), and International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) 2013.

But why wait until then to join the community? Tweet us now and tell us what you want out of #PlayfulLearning!

Let's play, GLS!

We're growing our local efforts with the annual Games+Learning+Society Educators Symposium (GLSES) into a national network of Playful Learning.

To kick off our movement, the newly re-imagined Playful Learning Summit at GLS 9.0 will offer teachers an exclusive preview of the Playful Learning Platform. Registration for the Playful Learning Summit will open in early April at the GLS conference website.
